Australian Navy helicopter crashes in Philippine Sea

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Thursday, October 14, 2021, said it was informed about an Australian MH60R Seahawk helicopter that crashed in the Philippine Sea while transiting east of Luzon.

The crew, members of the Royal Australian Navy, were rescued.

In a statement, the AFP said it was still coordinating with its Australian counterparts on the matter. Officials said they were ready to provide assistance.

The aircraft was from HMAS Brisbane, which was reportedly on regional presence deployment with HMAS Warramunga.

Based on a report from the Royal Australian Navy, the ships were conducting "a number of navy-to-navy engagements with partner nations" in southeast and northeast Asia. (SunStar Philippines from PR)
