Councilor vows to provide more livelihood, scholarships to indigent Tomasians

ASSISTANCE to displaced workers and indigent students are the promises of reelectionist Sto. Tomas Councilor Anne Garcia to her constituents if she will be voted again to the local council.

Garcia, who ranked first among councilors in the 2019 polls, said she will continue what she has started during her first term in politics.

"Sa unang termino ko sa pulitika bilang councilor, mayroon tayong 198 scholars. Gusto ko sana, kung papalarin ulit, maituloy 'yung tulong sa kanila at makatulong pa sa ibang kabataan na gustong makatapos ng pag-aaral," she said.

(In my first term in politics as councilor, we had 198 scholars. I would like, if I am lucky again, to continue to help them and help other young people who want to finish school.)

Aside from this, Garcia said she also wants to assist housewives and workers displaced by the pandemic through her NegoKart project.

The lady councilor said she has already turned over 15 NegoKarts that sell processed meats, including Pampanga's famous tocino, longganisa and hotdogs.

"Ito po ang pangako ko noong una akong ibinoto ng tao at alam ko na mas kailangan ngayon ang kabuhayan ng mas maraming tao dahil sa pandemic kaya doon din tayo magfofocus," she said.

(This is my promise when people first voted for me and I know that the livelihood of more people is more needed now because of the pandemic so let's focus on that too.)

Garcia also said she has partnered with Kabayan Partylist to assist Tomasians who are undergoing dialysis and chemotherapy treatment.

In terms of legislation, Garcia said she will support the elected local chief executive's programs and projects that will be beneficial to Tomasians.

She added that she will also move to strengthen ordinances that ensure the protection of women and children, among other sectors.
