2 men accused of 10 counts of rape nabbed in Southern Leyte

ANOTHER two men who were accused of 10 counts of rape were arrested by joint police operatives in Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

The accused were identified as Gavin Nantes, 42, a resident of Barangay Tambis 2, and an 18-year-old jobless resident of Barangay Ayahag, both in Saint Bernard town.

Nantes is the number 3 most wanted person (Regional Level), while the other 18-year-old accused is the number 2 most wanted (Regional Level).

Judge Jacinto Elle of Regional Trial Court-Branch 26 of San Juan, Southern Leyte, who issued the warrant of arrest dated July 7, 2021, did not recommend bail to the two accused.

The joint operatives were from Saint Bernard Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Major Ronnie Abendan, CIDG-Southern Leyte Provincial Field Unit led by Major Glenn Aculana, PIT Southern Leyte-Regional Intelligence Unit-8 led by Lieutenant Colonel Felix Gervacio Jr., Provincial Intelligence Unit-Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office led by Chief Master Sergeant Fernando Villaflor Jr., SLMARPSTA led by Major Benjamin Lodo, SLPHPT led by Lieutenant Colonel April Mark Young, and 2nd Southern Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Lieutenant Colonel Joel Nicha.

Earlier, joint police operatives also arrested two 16-year-old students in St. Bernard who were facing the same warrant of arrest for 10 counts and 13 counts of rape, respectively. (SunStar Philippines)
