New Covid cases stay below 8,000 in a day

FOR the third consecutive day on Friday, October 15, 2021, the Department of Health (DOH) reported less than 8,000 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

In its case bulletin, the DOH listed 7,625 new infections, 203 additional deaths and 13,363 new recoveries.

The new cases brought the cumulative case count to 2,705,792.

Testing output improved slightly, but remained low at 49,655 with a positivity rate of 14.9 percent.

The additional deaths raised the death toll nationwide to 40.424. The case fatality rate remained at 1.49 percent.

A total of 2,586,369 have been declared as recoveries nationwide, including the new recoveries.

The active cases fell below 80,000 to 78,999, of which 1.7 percent were critical, 3.9 percent were severe, 7.38 percent were moderate, 80.6 percent were mild and 6.4 percent were asymptomatic. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
