ANGELES CITY -- The City Government here on Thursday, October 14, checked on its primary and secondary evacuation centers in preparation for the rainy season.

Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, together with City Engineer Donato Dizon Angeles, inspected the City College of Angeles, the primary evacuation center, and Mining Evacuation Center, the secondary evacuation center, upon the orders of Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr.

Lazatin wants to ensure that evacuation centers are prepared in times of emergencies during the rainy season, Calaguas said.

Under his leadership, the city has built a new evacuation center in Barangay Mining.

The former City Evacuation Center, City College of Angeles, has been converted into a quarantine and vaccination center when the Covid-19 pandemic started.

The city also has other alternative evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya 2, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic and Anunas.

Last July 2021, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon updated the old directional signages referring to the location of the City Evacuation Sites since some of them are already faded or missing.

These signages serve as a guide to the public for the exact location of the main, secondary and alternate evacuation sites of Angeles City. (Angeles City Information Office)
