Former Angeles City village officials declare support for reelectionist mayor

ANGELES CITY -- Former barangay officials of this city declared their support for the candidacy of incumbent Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. and the entire slate of Team Lazatin during a meeting on October 14, 2021 at the Best Western Hotel in Barangay Balibago.

Some 18 former barangay captains and 172 former councilmen were present during the meeting.

According to Barangay Sta. Trinidad Chairman Danilo Nacu, this is the largest number of former barangay officials of the city to have declared their support for a mayoralty candidate.

On October 7, the Councilmen’s League of Angeles City (CLAC) also stated their support for Lazatin.

“Buong buo ang suporta ng CLAC para sa pagtakbo ni Mayor Lazatin sa ikalawang termino,” said CLAC President Carlos Dela Cruz, “Tiwala kami na itutuloy niya ang kanyang mahusay na panunungkulan.”

(CLAC fully supports Mayor Lazatin's run for a second term. We are confident that he will continue his great tenure.)

Lazatin, who is running for a second term as City Mayor in the 2022 Elections, was joined in the meeting with reelectionist Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, who is running unopposed, and reelectionist City Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting.

Also present during the meeting was the entire slate of Team Lazatin councilor-aspirants – incumbent City Councilors Joan Crystal “JC” Aguas, Marino “Niknok” Bañola, Joseph Alfie Bonifacio, Raco Del Rosario, Danilo “Dan” Lacson, Jesus “Jay” Sangil, and Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller; as well as new hopefuls Rodelio Mamac Jr., Aaron Pineda and Christopher Joseph “CJ” Ponce.

Lazatin and his team are running under the KAMBILAN party of Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

If re-elected, Lazatin said that the cornerstone for his second term in his office shall be an economic recovery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with Health and Social Welfare, and Sustainability.

All attendees during the meeting underwent antigen testing via Quest Diagnostics before entering the venue. (Team Lazatin)
