5 arrested in Subangdaku drug den raid

FIVE people were arrested and close to half a million pesos worth of illegal drugs were confiscated after anti-narcotics operatives raided a suspected drug den located in Sitio Lower Nawanao, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Friday night, October 15, 2021.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA 7) arrested drug den maintainer Ivy Villarin Novela, 32, and her confidant, Jan Mark Velasquez, 35. Novela was identified as one of PDEA 7’s drug targets.

Aside from Novela and Velasquez, also arrested were Jhay-ar Caisia, 32; Braindyl Gonzaga, 37; and Arnold Cabrera, 19.

Operatives seized 14 packages of suspected shabu weighing 60 grams with an estimated value of P408,000 and various drug sniffing paraphernalia.

Leia Alcantara, PDEA 7 information officer, said it took them a week of surveillance before they could build a case against Novela.

They found that Novela could sell 100 grams of shabu per week. (AYB / JKV)
