CEBU City logged only 22 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, October 16, 2021.

The city now has a total of 406 active Covid-19 cases.

Based on the data from Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of Cebu City Emergency Operations Center, a total of 856 samples were tested on Saturday and only 2.57 percent yielded positive results.

This 2.57-percent daily positivity rate is within the five-percent threshold of the World Health Organization in terms of positivity rate.

Halfway into October, Cebu City also logged only 18 deaths of confirmed Covid-19 patients.

In September, the city had a total of 127 Covid-19 deaths.

Garganera also reported that only 15 Covid-19 patients are now occupying the Cebu City Quarantine Center and 145 beds remain available.

As to the Barangay Isolation Center occupancy rate, only 70 of the 383 beds are currently in use and only 45 of the 177 of the isolation beds in hotels are also currently occupied.

The critical care occupancy rate at hospitals in Cebu City is also improving.

The bed utilization rate of both the Covid and non-Covid beds in the 15 hospitals in Cebu City was at 49.38 percent, wherein 1,299 of the 2,566 beds are still available as of Saturday.

For Covid beds utilization rate, the city logged 31 percent, still very much with the 60 percent threshold, as only 217 of the 700 allocated Covid beds are occupied as of Saturday. (WBS)
