Covid-19 vaccine deliveries exceed 90M doses

THE Philippines received nearly 2.0 million additional doses of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccines over the weekend, bringing total deliveries past 90 million doses.

On Friday, October 15, 2021, the Philippines received 1,068,210 doses of Pfizer vaccines procured by the government.

Cebu City received its allocation of 141,570 Pfizer doses, while 64,350 doses were shipped to Davao City on Saturday, October 16, the National Task Force Against Covid-19 said.

The remaining 862,290 doses, which were offloaded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, will be used to vaccinate minors.

An additional 207,090 doses of the Pfizer vaccine that arrived Saturday evening, October 16, will also be used for the minors. It was the third shipment of government-procured Pfizer vaccine.

It brought the total Pfizer vaccine deliveries in the country to 10,668,060 doses of government-procured Pfizer vaccine.

Also on Saturday, the Philippines received the largest vaccine delivery from the Russian Direct Investment Fund as 720,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine arrived.

Of this latest batch, 360,000 doses have been allotted for the first dose, while the other 360,000 shots are meant for the second dose.

To date, the country has received a total of 1.29 million doses of Sputnik V, consisting of Components I and II.

The Sputnik V shipment brought total deliveries in the country as of October 16 to 91,546,620 doses. (MVI / SunStar Philippines)
