AN OFFICIAL in Angeles City has reiterated the need to rehabilitate watershed areas in order to protect water source and maintain the steady supply of potable water for present and future generations.
"I've said it before and I'll say it again and again -- water is life," Irish "IC" Calaguas, chief adviser of Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr., said.
Calaguas, who is also the vice president of Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), pointed out that the Sapangbato watershed needs to be secured.
She said massive reforestation must be conducted in the area to increase water reserves which will benefit the city and other places in the Metro Clark area.
According to Calaguas, the protection of the Sapangbato watershed is part of the City Government's environment preservation campaign.
"We remain to be committed to pushing programs for the protection and preservation of the environment," she said.
"We are one with Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr in addressing the pressing need to ensure the sustainability of water as a solution to the impending environment crisis," Calaguas added.
The City Government is targetting to plant at least 45,000 seedlings at the watershed area, she said.
Calaguas added that Lazatin ordered the installation of four solar water pumps in the area to support the growth of the seedlings that will be planted by city officials and employees.
