132 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Pampanga

SOME 132 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Pampanga on October 17, data from the Department of Health’s (DOH) coronavirus tracker showed.

This brought the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province to 67,091 as of Monday, October 18. Of this number, 63,831 have recovered from the disease, but the total number of active cases rose to 1,618.

Some 1,642 people have since died from Covid-19 in the province.

The DOH data also showed that 52,127 of the confirmed cases are from Pampanga, while another 14,964 are from Angeles City.

Local data from the Provincial Government of Pampanga and Angeles City, however, vary on the actual number of cases, deaths and active cases.

The DOH said that Pampanga recorded 1,535 new cases in the last 14 days.

It also showed that local health facilities in Pampanga are now overstretched with the increasing number of coronavirus infections.

Of the 47 health facilities in Pampanga, about seven are now in critical level, while another two are at high risk of no longer being able to accept new patients due to lack of available beds.

Pampanga’s bed occupancy is currently at 46 percent. This means that 602 of the total 1,289 hospital beds available in the province are currently occupied. Some 687 hospital beds remain vacant.
