‘Pinoy-inspired,’ Ayala Center Cebu lights its Christmas tree

Filipinos are arguably the most excited about the Christmas season. Even as early as September, it would not be surprising to hear a few Christmas carols playing over the mall’s speakers or seeing a few promos related to the holidays.

As we’re closing in halfway the ‘ber months—Christmas officially just a couple of months away—Ayala Center Cebu kickstarts the holiday season with its much-anticipated annual tree lighting ceremony.

The tree lighting on Oct. 14 was kept intimate and attended by mall administration, employees and representatives from select media outlets.

It has been a tough couple of years, but this season, the award-winning lifestyle mall hopes to ignite a sense of hope and spread positivity through its festive Christmas tree.

Inspired by the theme “Paskong Pilipino,” this year’s Christmas tree is in a classic red and green motif with hints of gold for a subtle opulence. Some of the ornaments are made from native materials for an earthy and rustic feel.

Photos of the tree uploaded on the SunStar Facebook page have gotten Cebuanos inspired and excited about the upcoming holiday. Some of the comments have people expressing their desire to visit the mall again with their loved ones or simply sharing their appreciation for the beautiful tree. After all, Filipinos are in love with Christmas and everything it represents.

Whether running important errands, slowly working on that Christmas shopping list or enjoying a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants, one must not forget to grab a photo op at this yuletide spectacle. The 32-foot Christmas tree is located near the entrance of the mall’s New Wing.
