The college curricula have been constantly upgraded to meet the current needs of the education, nursing, medical, health and food-related programs, both long- and short-term.

The business courses link with the industries to align curricular thrusts. Hospitals and hotels serve as practicum partners.

The Cebu Normal University, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Teachers College, University of the Visayas, University of Cebu and the University of Southern Philippines, among some other colleges, upgrade their education courses following strict Commission on Higher Education and Department of Education guidelines.

The medical and nursing courses of Velez College, Southwestern University, Cebu Doctors’ College, among others, are regularly monitored. There are long- and short-term courses in tourism and hospitality services, engineering, business, technical as well as IT, offered in a few schools and private institutions in tandem with the Department of Tourism, Department of Health, Department of Energy, Department of Trade and Industry and with the engineering, IT, technological, hotel, tourism and restaurant industries.

Cebu is proficient in the management and accounting courses, and produced topnotchers in the CPA exams.

There are counterparts in these programs in the public schools and universities through the selected graduate and doctoral courses, professional exchange and practicum.

The University of Cebu joined the ranks of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of San Carlos (USC) and the University of the Philippines in producing bar topnotchers. Velez College, Cebu Doctors’ University, Southwestern University excel in board exams in nursing and medicine. The Cebu Institute of Technology-University has maintained its expertise in engineering and technology.

The Information Technology courses of USJ-R (Center of Excellence) have their own well-equipped building in its Basak Campus, while part of the facilities of USC Engineering is in Talamban.

These structures of learning include high-tech classrooms, laboratories, library and practicum facilities, health clinics, food and canteen, and wide parking. Security and study lounges require physical structures.
