SIXTY-NINE nurses working in the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will receive salary upgrades in compliance with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Circular modifying their positions.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Tuesday, October 19, that the Province ensures the welfare of health workers by implementing the salary adjustment of reclassified Nurse 2 to Nurse 1 by reverting them back to Nurse 2.

This would grant them a salary increase from Salary Grade 15 to Salary Grade 16 effective June 2021, Lacson said.

The Provincial Board recently passed a resolution adopting the DBM Budget Circular 2021-2 dated August 25, 2021, regarding the modification of nurse positions.

The governor has acknowledged the key role of nurses in the fight against coronavirus disease (Covid-19), thus it is a necessity for the province to look after their needs and welfare.

All employees will also receive a salary increase starting January 2022 as our Annual Budget provided for the second tranche of SSL, he earlier said.

Meanwhile, to ensure the welfare of the Job Order and Contract of Service employees the Provincial Government also facilitated their voluntary membership with the Social Security System (SSS).

The Provincial Board recently passed a resolution approving the memorandum of agreement entered between the SSS and the Provincial Government regarding the provision of the social security coverage for job order and Contract of Service personnel of the provincial government.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said these employees are not covered under the Government Services Insurance System, thus the Province will facilitate their voluntary membership with the SSS.

The Provincial Board Committee on Human Resource chaired by Third District Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko was the proponent of the resolution that was approved by the SP on October 5, 2021.
