8 Cebu schools OK’d for face-to-face classes

OUT of 12 schools in Cebu Province, only eight have been approved to open for the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes.

This was announced by the Department of Education (DepEd) on October 19, 2021 in its press briefer.

DepEd Asec. Malcolm Garma said the number of schools in the country recommended for face-to-face classes on Nov. 15 has gone down from 59 to 30.

“Of the 59 on the initial list, 30 will begin the pilot face-to-face classes on Nov. 15. These 30 schools are the ones that passed our evaluation based on our School Safety Assessment Tool,” Garma said.

Among the schools in Cebu that are allowed to open are the Basak Elementary School (Samboan), Mahanlud Elementary School (Malabuyoc), Cabagdalan Elementary School (Balamban), Luyongbaybay Elementary School (Bantayan), Cañang-Marcelo Luna National High School (Oslob), Busay National High School (Moalboal), Pilar National High School (Pilar) and Siocon Elementary School (Bogo City).

DepEd said 65 out of 96 personnel in Central Visayas, teaching and non-teaching, who will be assigned to selected schools, have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

There are 638 schools nationwide that have submitted their applications to be allowed to conduct pilot implementation of face-to-face classes. (ANV / CCP)
