POLICEMEN will be deployed at various cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaria in Bacolod City to ensure that they are closed from October 30 to November 2 during the observance of Undas.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Sunday, October 17, issued Executive Order (EO) No. 50, closing these places amid the prevailing threat of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The public is only allowed at these venues to a maximum of 30 percent of the capacity at any given time from October 15 until October 29 and November 3 to 15.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock, spokesperson of BCPO, said Wednesday, October 20, that all the station commanders were directed to put up police assistance desks in cemeteries within their areas of jurisdiction.

Gabana said policemen were also conducting roving patrols in various cemeteries to ensure 30 percent of the venue capacity starting last week.

“We want to ensure that before the four-day closure of the cemeteries, our policemen are already deployed to prevent the influx of the residents who will early visit the tombs of their departed loved ones,” he said.

Gabana added that police stations were tasked to deploy more than two policemen each in these areas.

Station commanders will supervise their personnel who were deployed in cemeteries to ensure that they are doing their job, the police official said.
