3 private hospitals in Cebu receive P17-M medical aid for indigent patients

THREE private hospitals in Cebu received P17 million worth of medical aid for indigent patients coming from the fifth district of Cebu.

The three beneficiary hospitals are the Mendero Medical Center in Consolacion, Cebu Doctors’ Hospital, and Perpetual Succour Hospital.

Cebu Fifth District Congressman Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco turned over the checks through the Department of Health.

Present during the event were DOH-Central Visayas Regional Director Jaime Bernadas, Assistant Regional Director Guy Perez, Sr., Gaudelia Baluyot of Perpetual Succour Hospital, Engineer Huriel Alejandro of Cebu Doctors’ Hospital, and Dr. Samuel Mendero III of Mendero Medical Center.

Frasco said the funds will be used as medical assistance for indigent patients admitted to these private hospitals coming from the fifth district of Cebu.

He also allocated budget for public hospitals such as the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City and the Eversley Child Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City.

Frasco also allocated funds for medical assistance for indigent patients admitted at the province-owned hospitals such as the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City, Juan B. Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod, and the Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Fracisco, Camotes Island.

This is in line with Frasco’s push to prioritize health in the district which he started when he was mayor for nine years in the Municipality of Liloan.

Recently, Frasco’s bill which seeks the establishment of Liloan Children’s Hospital has been approved in the House of Representatives and now pending before the Senate.

Also on the same day, Frasco has turned over six brand new ambulances to six barangays of the Municipality of Borbon.

Frasco said that health is wealth especially now in the time of pandemic which he continues to prioritize health programs for his constituents in addition to his top priority which is education.

In the district, Frasco has an estimate of over 10,000 scholars for the school year 2021-2022. (PR)
