World Bank assures Barmm of continuous support

THE World Bank has assured its continuous support to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm).

Ndiame Diop, World Bank Country Director for Brunei, Malaysian Philippines and Thailand, made the assurance to Minister Mohammad Yacob of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (Mafar) during his visit Monday, October 18, to the Mafar office.

The visit of Diop aimed to hear updates on the status of implementation of World Bank-funded projects in Barmm.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the implementation status and challenges of the ongoing projects in Barmm, through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), implemented by the Mafar and local government unit.

Yacob emphasized the essence of successful implementation of foreign assisted projects to build trust and confidence in the funding partners and eventually, it could pour more support in the future.

“We want government services recognized by the people through the successful implementation of projects and programs in the region,” Yacob stressed.

Diop thanked Yacob for the beneficial insights and fruitful discussions they had while he assured continuous assistance from the World Bank on funding projects that will benefit the Barmm.

Diop was accompanied during the visit by World Bank Senior Social Development Specialists Ditte Marie Fallesen and Mary Morrison; and Social Development Specialist Paul Tudtud Adolfo. (SunStar Zamboanga)
