Over P100,000 shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P107,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug bust operations of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City Friday evening, November 13, 2020.

The operation also led to the arrest of Mukzzhim Tampi, 31, of Purok Baradas, Barangay Alijis; Noraya Barani, 27, of Barangay 26; Jude Villarmino, 46, of Barangay 40; Jurlyn Estonato, 33, of Barangay 40; John Mark Manatad, 29, of Barangay 40; and Mike Villanueva, 29, of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Villarmino, Estonato, Manatad and Villanueva were arrested by operatives of Police Station 6 after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover in Purok Amaliz 1, Barangay 40, around 10:50 p.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession four sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of P5,000, the marked money and drug paraphernalia.

Pico said Tampi and Barani were also arrested by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit inside a mall in Barangay 21 around 7 p.m.

He said Tampi, who was identified as a high-value individual, tried to escape but was cornered and arrested at the public plaza in Barangay 12.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession nine sachets of shabu weighing 15 grams with an estimated market value of P102,000, the P500 marked money, sling bag and cigarette box.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 1 and 6 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
