Residents of Angeles City, Pampanga, especially senior citizens, can now avail of the free cataract operation starting in October from the joint project of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II.

Mayor Lazatin announced the project through Memorandum No. 1445, series of 2021.

“Aslag ing pag-asa para kareng Angeleños a miki kapanandaman keng mata kalupa na ning katarata,” Mayor Lazatin said.

Forms for free cataract operation will be provided in the six Rural Health Units and 28 sub-health centers from October 25 to November 5, 2021, the memorandum states.

All Angeleño residents who are interested to avail of the program should fill out the form and submit the necessary requirements to the staff of the RHUs or sub-health centers.

The needed documents are valid identification cards (IDs) with city address; Certificate of Barangay Indigency with the same address indicated in the valid IDs; and social case study or endorsement from the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel added that the forms filled out as well as the requirements will then be collected by the staff of Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles from the RHUs and sub-health centers on November 8.

“Coordination for the scheduling of initial check-up and operation of the residents will be given by the GAD staff via phone call,” Manuel added.

Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas said the patients will be picked up from their homes by the City Government and will be transported to partnered medical institutions for the initial check-up and operation.

Among the cornerstones of the Lazatin brothers' administration is providing more accessible public health programs to Angeleños, such as giving free pap smear to constituents, free check-up and medicines, door-to-door delivery of free medicines to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and bedridden, free wheelchairs, free anti-rabies vaccine in the Animal Bite Treatment Center, as well as financial medical assistance.
