Camiguin tourism workers vaccinated in preparation for reopening on October 25

ALL tourism workers in Camiguin are expected to be fully vaccinated by the time the province reopens to tourists on October 25, 2021.

According to Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, a total of 3,071 or 67 percent of the identified 4,591 tourism workers in the province are already fully vaccinated.

Among the 3,071 workers vaccinated in Camiguin are 745 employed in hotels and resorts, 446 in restaurants and bakeshops, 39 in dive shops, 42 in souvenir shops and vendors, 36 pump boat operators and boatmen, 727 in transport groups, 47 in salons, 132 in government frontline service, 28 tour guides, 829 workers in supermarkets and financial establishments.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who visited Camiguin, lauded the efforts of the province to keep its Covid-19 cases the lowest in Northern Mindanao.

"I congratulate everyone in Camiguin for doing their best to keep the pandemic under control, and vaccination programs, such as this one, aim to further reduce the number, as well as the severity of cases," Puyat said.

"I'm so happy na 67 percent na pala ang na reach nyo for tourism workers. Kung may kulang pa man na gusto si governor mapabakunahan, you can be assured na ipapadala sa kanya," she added.

With the reopening of the Camiguin, the Department of Tourism-Northern Mindanao urged the tourists to observe the health and safety protocols against Covid-19. Tourists are also reminded to follow the requirements of the provincial government.

Among the said requirements are:

- QR code through the province's cleancamiguinqr.com;

- Proof of complete Covid-19 vaccination;

- Negative RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test result;

- Proof of confirmed booking from an local government unit-accredited establishment or a health clearance from the Municipal Health Officer of the municipality, if staying in a private home;

- Identification Card/ID

Tourists are also required to take an Antigen Test on the fifth day of their stay in Camiguin.
