Tesda holds skills training in Zamboanga del Sur town

THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) conducted a three-day skills training from October 20 to 23, 2021, for selected male and female members of the community in Tiguha village, Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Omarkhayyam Dalagan, Zamboanga del Sur Tesda chief, said the skills training in Photovoltaic Installation with Solar-powered Charging Station project from October 20 to 23 was attended by male members of the community together with militiamen of the 53rd Infantry Battalion while Prepare Hot Meals for women on October 21.

Dalagan said the output of the training in Hot Meals was served to the participants while the Solar-powered Charging Station was delivered to a nearby detachment in Danganan, Lapuyan.

Tiguha village, one of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) target villages, is also included in the Barangay Development Program (BDP), the flagship program under the umbrella of Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-Elcac), which was conceptualized to finally address insurgency by bringing sustainable solutions and basic services to communities in need.

Tiguha village was declared "clear" of New People’s Army (NPA) influence in September 2019.

Tesda is the chair of PRLEC of TF-Elcac.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Coconut Authority, Department of Science and Technology and military also presented their programs and services before the beneficiaries during the three-day activity.

Skills training in Small Engine Servicing and Bread Making are lined up as additional interventions to further empower the community. (SunStar Zamboanga)
