ACTRESS and talk show host Kris Aquino has announced her engagement to Mel Senen Sarmiento on Instagram.
The actress wrote, “As much as I am proud to be an Aquino, looking forward na kong maging Sarmiento.”
She called Sarmiento “my best friend and the man I said yes to spending the rest of my life with” and “an overall good and patient man” whose presence had now made her “more calm and peaceful.”
Sarmiento served as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government during the administration of Aquino’s brother, Benigno Aquino “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Aquino and Sarmiento went public with their relationship in August, two months after Noynoy’s passing.
Aquino said then that her son, Bimby, by her first husband, basketball player James Yap, approved of Sarmiento.
Aquino has another son, Josh, from an earlier relationship with actor Phillip Salvador. (CTL)
