Immigration officers in uniform barred from posting Tiktok videos

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reminded its officers assigned at international airports that they may not post videos of themselves singing or dancing while on duty and in uniform, on popular social networking site Tiktok.

Immigration Port Operations Chief Carlos Capulong said employees who violate the ban, imposed last December yet, will face administrative cases for insubordination and misconduct.

In a statement Monday, October 25, 2021, Capulong said he was investigating reports of BI employees at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport still posting such videos on Tiktok.

He said there was also a ban on the use of cellular phones and other electronic gadgets while on duty, which dance-happy employees clearly violated as how else could the Tiktok videos of the BI employees in uniform have been taken if they were not on duty and they did not have their gadgets with them.

Last December, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente banned BI employees in uniform from posting Tiktok videos, saying this is unbecoming of government employees and belittles the bureau as an institution. (CTL)
