"I am not a super cop neither superman."

This was what acting Bacolod City Police Director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir said yesterday, October 26, as he reassured resolution to the spate of killings and other crime incidents.

“We acknowledge that there are crimes happening in Bacolod City, especially shooting incidents, but those are normal,” Martir said.

"The spate of killings in the city is not something new, it already happened (here) before (but) in my capacity as the acting city police director I will try my best to solve them," he said.

The latest victim in the spate of shooting incident in Bacolod was village watchman and tricycle driver Michael Hugo, 42, of Purok Tahong in Barangay 2.

He was gunned down on Friday last week in front of Royal Am Rei Hotel in Barangay 7.

Martir said policemen here are on top of the situation and are not lazy.

He noted that this is only his second time to be a police director but during the time that he was assigned at the Zamboanga Provincial Police Office, they were adjudged as the best police office in the country.

"I cannot promise a repeat performance here in Bacolod but I will try to implement improvements in the performance of the policemen," Martir said.

Three weeks after his assumption as acting city police director, BCPO was able to seize P600,000 worth of suspected shabu, police records showed.

Meanwhile, the 12 vehicles to be donated by the city government to BCPO may be delivered next week.

Martir said it will be a big help to their logistic needs, especially during police operations, as they do no longer need to rent a vehicle.*
