THE molecular laboratories in Bacolod City continue to send samples to the Philippine Genome Center for the identification of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city, Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy director of the Emergency Operations Center, said yesterday, October 27.
Sorongon said that the sending of samples is done by the molecular laboratories on a weekly basis.
So far, there are five variants of Covid-19 present in Bacolod City—the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Teta and the B.1.1.318, EOC records showed.
But Sorongon said that those who came in contact with the 34-year-old female from the city's Barangay Alijis who was tested positive of B.1.1.318 variant of Covid-19 were not swabbed anymore.
“The index case is no longer here and is now in the United Arab Emirates (and) she was tested positive about seven months ago,” he explained.
Bacolod remained under alert level 4 or moderate risk in terms of Covid-19 transmission as of yesterday based on the records of the Department of Health in Western Visayas.
The two-week growth rate of Covid-19 cases in Bacolod is at 34 percent, while the Average Daily Attack Rate (Adar) or the number of new cases over the past 14 days per 100,000 population in the city stood at 14.65 percent.
The positivity rate is at 23 percent and the hospitalization rate is now at 74.22 percent.
