BARANGAY San Pedro in San Simon town, Pampanga was the first stop of the San Simon leg of the Barangaynihan program of the Philippine National Police.

Under the said program, the local government, through the local police, sets up a temporary one-stop-shop at the San Pedro National School for the convenience of residents in the said barangay.

Among the government offices present during the activity were the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Agriculture Office, Civil Registrar, Business Processing and Licensing Office, Commission of Elections, Assessor's Office and the Health Office.

Pampanga Police Provincial Office Director Colonel Robin Sarmiento, who was present during the event, said the local police is tasked to spearhead the organization of the said event.

"In partnership with the local government, inilalapit na namin ang mga serbisyo ng gobyerno sa tao. Ang ating chiefs of police ang nagkocoordinate sa mga government offices and agencies na pwede at willing magbigay ng remote services sa ating mga kababayan through Barangaynihan," he said.

Aside from government services, the local government also distributed food assistance to Barangay San Pedro residents.

Acting Mayor Leonora Wong said 100 residents received a sack of rice and a relief pack containing canned goods, coffee, creamer and noodles each.

Wong also led the distribution of wheelchairs to senior citizens and persons with disabilities in the said barangay.

To complete the delivery of government services, Wong said 500 doses of vaccines were also administered during the day-long program.

"Dinala namin ang munisipyo literally dito sa Barangay San Pedro. Lahat ng gusto nilang serbisyo at assistance pwede nila iavail dito buong araw nang hindi mapapagod o gagastos pa ng pamasahe," she said.

(We brought the municipality literally here to Barangay San Pedro. They can avail themselves of all the services and assistance they want here all day without getting tired or having to pay a fare.)

Residents, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to Wong and local police for such a program that saved them time and money and minimized exposure to the virus.
