More than 510,000 individuals vaccinated in Cagayan de Oro

THE cumulative number of individuals who have received their doses of Covid-19 vaccine in Cagayan de Oro as of October 27 was 519,132, according to the report of the City Health Insurance Office.

Of the 519,132 vaccinated Kagay-anons, 300,700 got their first dose of the vaccines, while 218,432 were fully vaccinated.

According to the said report, among the 519,132 vaccinees, 410,233 were vaccinated in City-run vaccination sites and 108,899 were vaccinated in Cagayan de Oro hospitals.

Of the 410,233 individuals vaccinated in City-run vaccination sites, 30,931 were frontline healthcare workers, 57,475 were senior citizens, 90,919 were persons with comorbidities, 199,351 were essential frontline workers, 22,878 were from the A5 priority group and 8,679 were from the B1 to B6 and C priority groups.

Cagayan de Oro is aiming to achieve herd immunity in December of this year.

In order for the city to reach herd immunity, 70 percent of its total population or around 500,000 individuals should be fully vaccinated.

"Gusto nato nga December 25 naa nay atong herd immunity," City Mayor Oscar Moreno said.

Moreno is hopeful that the vaccination rollout for children 12 to 17 years old will help the city achieve herd immunity.
