Davao journalist killed inside residence

(UPDATED) DABAWENYO broadcast journalist Orlando "Dondon" Dinoy was shot dead Saturday evening, October 30, 2021, inside his apartment in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, Bansalan Chief PMajor Peter Glen Ipong confirmed.

Dinoy was a reporter of the online media outfit Newsline Philippines. He was also a former correspondent of SunStar Superbalita Davao.

Newsline Philippines, in a statement, condemned the death of the journalist and appealed to the authorities for a fair and speedy investigation.

Superbalita Davao also condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation on the killing.

"Nanawagan kami sa mga awtoridad nga mohimo of lawom nga pagsusi sa insidente sa way pagdapig aron nga maangkon ang hustiya sa kamatayon ni Dinoy," it said in a statement.

The Philippine National Police on Sunday, October 31, ordered an investigation on Dinoy's killing.

PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar said they are coordinating with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security to swiftly resolve and identify the suspects behind Dinoy's death. (SunStar Davao/With SunStar Philippines)
