Former Mayor: Magalang 'slept' under Mayor Pecson

“OUR town slept under the leadership of Mayor Romy Pecson.”

This was said by former Mayor Maria Lourdes “Malu” Lacson when asked to comment about the government of the incumbent mayor.

They will go up against each other in the 2022 mayoralty race.

During the media forum hosted by the Capampangans in Media Inc. (Cami) in cooperation with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Lacson said Pecson failed to be “available and visible” for most of their constituents.

She added that Pecson had allowed others to represent and do the work for him.

Lacson said the potential of Magalang to improve further had been derailed since Pecson became mayor in 2019.

The former mayor also said the municipal government is "laidback” when it comes to the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said the provincial government gave them antigen, but Pecson’s government had not fully utilized it.

“All they have to do is tell the province if they don’t have any more kits and they will be given. But they still ran out of kits,” said Lacson, who is the executive assistant of Governor Dennis Pineda.

Lacson is in charge of the special health projects of the governor.

"If I will be given a chance to be mayor again, I will concentrate on the prevention of the coronavirus," she said

“I will focus on detection, isolation and other moves to address the problem,” she added.
