THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon has welcomed its new regional director on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Police Brigadier General Matthew Baccay took over the leadership of the Central Luzon police, replacing outgoing PRO-Central Luzon Chief Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, who was assigned to the Civil Security Group.

Baccay, who was a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992, headed the Eastern Police District prior to assuming his new post.

In his inaugural speech, Baccay assured that programs for anti-criminality, anti-illegal drugs and manhunt for wanted personalities will have no let-up under his watch.

He also vowed the sustained participation of the Central Luzon in battling the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), particularly through strict implementation of health protocols directed by the national and local Inter-Agency Task Force.

Baccay also pledged to maintain a peaceful and orderly national and local election in the coming May 9, 2022.

"We will look at the history and coordinate with local officials, candidates and Commission on Elections to see what is needed to be implemented in each specific area," he said.

He also reminded policemen that the internal cleansing program will be continuous on his watch and will penalize whoever erring officials that will be identified.

"Susundin natin ang mantra na 'ang mabuti ay gagantimpalaan at ang masama ay paparusahan,'" he said.

The change of command ceremony was officiated by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Guillermo Eleazar.
