Anti-drug sting nets 2, P1.7-M shabu

POLICE operatives arrested two persons and seized P1.7 million worth of substance believed to be shabu in an anti-drug operation Tuesday, November 2, in Zamboanga City.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspects as Jerson Saksihan, 34, and Romnick Veriña, 31, who were arrested around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, in Calarian village, west of Zamboanga City.

Recovered from the suspects were 250 grams of substance believed to be shabu packed in five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with P1.7 million, identification cards, a four-wheel vehicle, a bundle of boodle money and marked money.

The operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Group (CDEG) and Regional Drug Enforcement Group (RDEG) launched the anti-drug operation following series of surveillance on the illegal activity of the suspects, according to Reyes.

He lauded the CDEG and RDEC operatives for the successful anti-drug operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects.

He said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
