BCPO nets nearly P1M in 'shabu' for October

NEARLY P1 million worth of substance believed to be shabu weighing 139.604 grams was seized by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) last October, its spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana said.

Gabana said some 60 drug personalities were arrested from 43 operations they have conducted.

Of 60 drug personalities, one of them is a high-value individual (HVI) another one was a minor and the rest are street level individuals (SLI), he said.

Gabana also said that they were able to file 67 cases in court for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Aside from the illegal drugs campaign, he said the BCPO also intensified its operations against most wanted persons in the city.

BCPO, in fact, arrested 53 persons with pending arrest warrants for various offenses and 11 of them are considered most wanted personalities in the city.

As to the campaign against loose firearms, BCPO conducted 21 operations that resulted in the arrest of four violators and the confiscation of three homemade firearms and a short firearm.

Through the operation "Katok" on Annual Verification of Firearms, three firearms were deposited 11 home-made others were surrendered along with seven explosives.

Gabana said they also intensified their operations against illegal gambling in various areas of Bacolod City that led to the arrest of 47 individuals and seizure of P3, 526 in bet money.

BCPO Acting Director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir commended the operating units and its personnel for a job well done and in their relentless effort through police-initiated operations to lessen criminality.

The BCPO director also vowed to always give the Bacolodnons a safe place to live especially in this time of the pandemic.
