FORMER Olympian Charly Suarez springs back to action for his fifth fight in 2021.
The 33-year-old Suarez trades leathers with unbeaten Delmar Pellio in a 10-round main event of VSP Promotions’ Ultimate Knockout Challenge on Dec. 4, 2021 at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque City.
Suarez had a very busy and productive year with impressive wins in four fights.
He started off 2021 with a unanimous decision win over Jon Jon Estrada in February. He followed it up with a fourth round stoppage of Pablito Canada in May, then a unanimous decision victory over Eduardo Mancito in July and a fourth round knockout of Lorence Rosas in September.
Pellio, on the other hand, is coming off a long hiatus of almost two years. He last saw action back on Dec. 4, 2019 with a stoppage win over Ronel Sungquit.
Suarez is 8-0 with six knockouts, while Pellio is 9-0 with four knockouts.
In the meantime, unbeaten prospect Carl Jammes Martin (17-0, 15 KOs) faces the stiffest test of his young career as he takes on veteran Mark Anthony Geraldo (38-9-3, 19 KOs) for the Philippines Games and Amusements Board super bantamweight belt.
The 22-year-old Martin is one of the most promising prospects from the Philippines. His last fight was a knockout win over Joe Tejones.
Martin hasn’t faced a fighter of Geraldo’s caliber, who has faced some of the elite names in boxing’s lower weight divisions.
Geraldo owns a win over current International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas. He has fought the likes of Nordine Oubaali, Oleydeong Sithsamerchai, Arthur Villanueva, Takuma Inoue and McJoe Arroyo.
Also seeing action in the card is one-time world title challenger Michael Dasmarinas (30-3-1, 20 KOs), who’ll be fighting Ernesto Saulong in an eight-rounder.
In the undercard, Jon Jon Estrada (13-8-1, 12 KOs) slugs it out with Jestine Tesoro (5-2, 2 KOs), Roy Sumugat (12-11-1, 6 KOs) squares off with Juanito Paredes (8-7-1, 3 KOs), Ranelio Quizo (8-2, 1 KO) faces off with Marvilo Aballe (8-1-2, 3 KOs), Lorenz Ladrada (10-2-1, 3 KOs) is up against Jason Buenaobra (7-5-3, 3 KOs), John Lawrence Ordonio (7-2-1, 4 KOs) locks horns with Jules Victoriano (9-4, 6 KOs), Virgel Vitor (15-2, 9 KOs) exchange blows with Lorence Rosas (9-6-2, 3 KOs), Roberto Gonzales (28-7-1, 17 KOs) faces fellow veteran Lenardo Doronio (17-18-3, and Johniel Laurente (2-0, 1 KO) is fighting Marlon Bacalando (0-3-3).
