THE municipal government of Porac celebrated its 427th Founding Anniversary by mounting an art exhibit that features the works of young Poraqueños.

The art exhibit, “Experience Bayung Porac,” was launched by Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil on October 31 at SM City Clark.

The “Experience Bayung Porac” exhibit showcases the rich and astonishing culture of the municipality through visual and installation arts by the Porac Young Artists led by award-winning visual artist Herminigildo Pineda.

“Today is a very significant day to our beloved town as we celebrate its 427th Founding Anniversary. Our municipality was founded on October 31, 1594, named after the Porac River of nearby town Floridablanca,” Capil shared during his speech.

Capil thanked SM City Clark officials for accommodating the art exhibit.

He also assured Poraqueños that municipal officials “are doing their best to make Porac a progressive town.”

The exhibit launch was also attended by Councilor and Vice Mayor Aspirant Francis “Budoy” Tamayo, Municipal Administrator Atty. Maria Cecilia Manansala-Africa, Porac Tourism Officer-in-Charge Gem Marimla, Porac PESO Officer Sheryl Bulanadi, Mayor Capil’s Legal Adviser Atty. Sos Sian, artist Pineda and local historian Edgardo Sibug.

Sibug was the author of the “Porac” history book.

“We used to celebrate our founding anniversary at the municipal hall. But this time, we went out so, we can showcase how rich the culture of Porac is through these artworks here,” Tourism OIC Marimla said.

Marimla also shared that the art exhibit aims to showcase the resiliency of Poraqueños after experiencing various disasters including the Mount Pinatubo Eruption in 1991 and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

SM City Clark Assistant Mall Manager Marianne Grace Miranda-Gavino also graced the exhibit launching.

The art exhibit will be on display until November 6, on the ground floor of SM City Clark, in front of Terranova.
