628 offenders, 13 most wanted fall in Eastern Visayas

SOME 628 law violators and 13 other most wanted persons were arrested in Eastern Visayas towns following the region-wide simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations (Sacleo) from October 25 to 31, 2021.

“The incessant conduct of our operations is our commitment to protect our natural resources and uphold peace and security,” said Brigadier General Rommel Bernardo Cabagnot, police regional director.

The official lauded the operatives during the seven-day police operations, particularly in the campaign against illegal fishing where 359 personalities were arrested.

Authorities also confiscated P19,037,594 worth of fish and fishing paraphernalia.

At least 193 individuals were apprehended due to illegal gambling, while 21 in illegal logging, with P841,572 worth of lumber confiscated.

On illegal drugs, regional police operatives collared 23 drug suspects and seized P52,460 estimated worth of shabu.

A total of 142 different firearms were turned over and confiscated during the Kontra Boga operations.

In the information released by the Police Regional Office-8, 10 former members of the New People’s Army also surrendered.

They turned in two units of caliber .357 revolver, two units of caliber .22 revolver, three units of caliber .38 revolver, one unit homemade shotgun, 32 live ammunition, and other paraphernalia. (SunStar Philippines)
