Jealousy allegedly triggered a man to stab dead his live-in partner at a banana plantation near their house at St. James Village in Sagay City, Negros Occidental at about 11 p.m. Friday, November 5.

Sagay City Police Station Deputy Chief Abundio Diaz identified the victim as Marijo Adolpo, 19, who succumbed to multiple stab wounds on her way to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial Hospital.

She was found lying on the ground by her mother, whose name was not disclosed, Diaz said.

Suspect Kent Joseph Katalbas “alias Kentoy,” 21 was later arrested in a hot pursuit operation in their house, he said.

Asked what was the cause of Katalbas’ jealousy that eventually resulted in the killing, the police official said they could not establish it yet as the investigation on the incident is still ongoing.

An inch long bladed weapon believed to have been used in killing the victim was recovered from the crime scene, police records showed.

Meanwhile, in Don Salvdor Benedicto town, jealousy is also allegedly the reason why a man was accidentally shot by his own gun at Barangay Kumaliskis.

The town’s deputy police chief, Lieutenant Every Canto, said Jonel Librando, 29, was allegedly under the influence of liquor when he arrived home Saturday night, November 6.

He had an argument with his wife Melly, 28.

Canto said when the couple woke up yesterday, November 7, another argument ensued between them.

Jonel hit her wife with a broom while holding a gun, which Melly tried to wrest from him,

The gun accidentally fired hitting Jonel on the nape, the police official said.

Jonel was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod where he is now recuperating while his wife surrendered to the police and turned over the .38 caliber revolver owned by her husband.*
