Barber, 3 others nabbed in drug busts

The intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) from Friday, November 5, until yesterday, November 7 resulted in the confiscation of almost P300,000 worth of suspected shabu.

These operations also led to the arrest of Johnarie Saura, 31, of Barangay Guinhalaran in Silay City, Roberto Mejica, 34, of Bangga dose in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Amador Bermudez, 59, of Purok Amalez 1, Barangay 40 and Roy Guzon, 41, of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Saura and Mejica were arrested at about 7:45 a.m. yesterday after one of them transacted to sell a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer at Purok Tilapia at Barangay 3 in the city.

Police Captain Christopher Magsangkay, who led the operation said they recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P85,000 and weighing more or less 13 grams from Saura and Mejica upon their arrest.

Bermudez, a barber, was arrested by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P500 near his residence at about 7:35 p.m. Saturday, November 6.

Police recovered from Bermudez’s possession nine sachets of suspected shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride weighing 20 grams and with estimated market value of P136,000.

BCPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, said Bermudez and Guzon were identified as street level individuals in the city.

They also seized from him three grams of dried marijuana leaves valued P360, the police said.

Guzon, meanwhile, was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 8 at Purok Kahirup, Barangay Singcang-Airport around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

Police recovered from Guzon’s possession three sachets of shabu weighing 10 grams with estimated market value of P68,000, the P500 marked money, coin purse and .38 caliber revolver loaded with two live ammunition.

They were under surveillance for almost a month before their arrest.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 6 and 8.

They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
