MALACAÑANG reminded the public on Monday, November 8, 2021, to strictly follow the minimum public health and safety (MPHS) protocols to avoid the resurgence of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases following the easing of quarantine measures.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reminded the public especially about observing social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus amid the crowding in various places, especially in malls, after children were allowed to go out particularly in Metro Manila following the de-escalation of alert level status.

(We remind the public and mall owners that we opened the malls to children for their health benefits and for our economy, not to make these malling events super spreaders of coronavirus.)

(The spike in Covid-19 cases is in our hands, as well as the continued opening of businesses. Let us not put to waste of our two years of sacrifice just to open our economy. We must intensify our health measures, such as wearing of face mask, proper handwashing and vaccination.)

In the same briefing, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said it is the responsibility of the mall management to instill and enforce the MPHS protocols in their areas.

He said malls and other business establishments should assign safety officers to ensure that their customers follow protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Lopez also reminded business establishment owners to provide proper ventilation in their areas.

Metro Manila has been placed under Alert Level 2 from November 5 to 21.
