THE National Task force (NTF) Against Covid-19 has proposed the conduct of “National Vaccination Days” from November 29 to December 1, its chief, Carlito Galvez Jr., said on Monday, November 8, 2021.
"Tinataon natin ‘yung National Heroes Day, November 30, kasi parang ang messaging natin (is) ang lahat ng tao na magpabakuna ay isang bayani," Galvez said in a Laging Handa public briefing.
Galvez earlier said they aim to vaccinate five million individuals during the national vaccination, which will be conducted in order to boost the country’s vaccination rate.
He said at present, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), Mimaropa, Bicol, Zamboanga Peninsula and Soccsksargen have the slowest vaccination rate in the country due to accessibility and lack of vaccinators.
"It is because of accessibility challenges like in Barmm, since Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, which are island provinces, they do not have cold chain facilities for vaccine storage," Galvez said.
"We are also short in vaccinators, and we have had consultations with medical associations, and they, as well as allied medical professionals such as pharmacists and dentists, are willing to help," he added.
Last week, President Rodrigo Duterte said he is not contended with the country’s vaccination drive due to the slow deployment of Covid-19 vaccines.
As of November 4, 28,718,856 or 37.23 percent of the target population have been fully vaccinated, while 37,355 164 or 48.43 of the target population received the first dose.
The National Government aims to vaccinate 70 percent of the entire population by the end of 2021 in order to achieve herd immunity. (SunStar Philippines)
