KAYA FC-Iloilo is off to a hot start in the Philippines Football League (PFL) Copa Paulino Alcantara with a 2-0 victory over Azkals Development Team in the opening night on Nov. 7, 2021 at the Philippine Football Federation Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Kaya FC-Iloilo, the 2020 PFL runner-up, needed a strong push in the second half to dispose of ADT, a team composed of young promising players.

It was a very competitive match, with both sides scoreless at halftime.

Japanese winger Daizo Horikoshi finally broke the deadlock with a goal in the 54th minute.

Veteran Simone Rota sealed the match with a goal in the 70th minute.

Kaya FC-Iloilo faces Mendiola FC 1991 in Group B on Nov. 10, 2021 at 4 p.m., while Dynamic Herb Cebu FC takes on Stallion FC Laguna in Group A at 7 p.m.

The top two clubs in Group B advanced to the semifinal round, while Dynamic Herb Cebu FC and Stallion Laguna FC automatically advanced to the semifinals after defending PFL titleholder United City FC withdrew from the 2021 Copa Paulino Alcantara.
