Dear Thelma C.,

The best way to avoid migraine headaches is to know the things that bring them on to you. So, get a checklist and find them in you.

Remember that migraine triggers can add up. But, you have to avoid as many migraine triggers as you can -- because if you do, the better are your chances of less likely getting them.

Here are some tips to help you.

Avoid these migraine triggers! If you can’t control them, then, try to manage them.

Stress. Relax. Remember that if you are stressed, this will put a strain in your cardiovascular system.

Menstrual cycle. You can’t control this. But, exercising a week or two before your menstrual cycle, you’ll less likely get those excruciating headaches.

Changes in your routine. Check how much time you spent on exercise and sleeping.

Fasting or skipping meals. So, eat on the right schedule.

Changes in the weather or temperature. Avoid being hit by the cold blows of the air conditioners or exposing yourself under the heat of the sun.

Bright and glaring lights. Avoid them by using shades when you go out.

Chocolate. Just say NO to these treats.

Alcohol. Say NO to all types of alcohol – especially beer and red wine.

Odors. Perfumes, paints, cigarette smoke, and anything that may make your nose smirk.

Well, as much as there are more things that we need to tackle about handling your problem, but, since we are now running out of space, then, let me continue this in my next issue. Until then!
