THE African Swine Fever (ASF) Task Force seized around 56 kilos of hot meat at the roro (roll-on, roll-off) port in Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan over the weekend.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Mabel Sinel said the hot meat placed in two styro boxes were supposed to be delivered to Bacolod City from Metro Manila.

"The hot meat is composed of pork processed products and pork internal organs. Some of them have Chinese characters in the packaging," she said.

Upon confiscation, the hot meat was immediately disposed at the disposal facility of Aklan in Barangay Argao, Malay.

The disposal team burned the items.

The Provincial Veterinary Office and the ASF Task Force have been vigilant to prevent the entry of any pork products into the province, which remains free from the ASF.

"We are warning online sellers not to sell pork products outside the region especially during this forthcoming Christmas season as this will be confiscated," Sinel said. (SunStar Philippines)
