“CURFEW in Negros Occidental will stay.”

This was said by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson Wednesday, November 10, saying that most of the mayors of various towns and cities in the province have agreed to retain the curfew hours.

Instead of lifting the curfew, the local chief executives wanted to shorten it, the governor said.

He said the mayors want the curfew to be from midnight to 4 a.m. only from the current 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Lacson clarified that the midnight curfew will only cover adults, while the minors' curfew will begin at 10 p.m.

The governor said he will issue an executive order on the newly proposed curfew hours anytime this week.

The adjustment of curfew hours is in light of the recent downgrading of the status of Negros Occidental to Alert Level 2 in terms of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) transmission by the National Inter-Agency Task Force.

As of November 8, 2021, the Average Daily Attack Rate or the number of new cases over the past 14 days per 100,000 population in Negros Occidental was at 2.94 percent while the province’s two-week growth rate was at 45 percent, records from the Department of Health-Western Visayas showed.

Negros Occidental’s positivity and hospital utilization rates stood at 13 and 46.25 percent, respectively.
