Philippines gets 1,600 new doctors

OVER 1,600 new doctors have passed the October 2021 Physician Licensure Examinations (PLE), according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

In a statement, the PRC said that 72.8 percent of the more than 2,300 examinees have passed the test given by the Board of Medicine.

"There were 1,677 out of 2,302 to have passed the Physician Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in Manila and Tuguegarao last October 2021," said PRC.

Topping the exam passers is Ian Gabriel Juyad of the University of the Philippines (UP)-Manila with a score of 87.5 percent.

Tied at second place are Jian Kenzo Leal and Geremiah Edison Llanes, both of UP-Manila, with 87.42 percent.

Completing the Top 5 are Alyssa May Madriaga of the University of Santo Tomas (87.33 percent), Rae Erica Samontina of the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (87.08 percent), and Vienne Pinlac of the Pamantasan bg Lungsod ng Maynila (87 percent).

Lumped at 6th place are Michael Brian Alvarez of UP-Manila, Marie Bernadine Caballes of UP-Manila, and Emmanuel Mangahas of University of Santo Tomas (UST) with a score of 86.92 percent.

Ivan Gabriel Simpauco of UST (86.83 percent) ranked 7th, followed by Miguel Luis Arkoncel of UST (86.75 percent) at 8th, while Monina Mica Castillo of Our Lady of Fatima University-Valenzuela (86.58 percent) and Stephen Dann del Rosario of Mariano Marcos State University-Batac (86.58 percent) are tied at 9th.

Tied at 10th place are Aldric Niu Aw of UST, Johnvert Batara of UST, Lawrence Mariano of UST, and James Michael Suarez of Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, with mirroring scores of 86.5 percent.

The PRC advised those who passed the examination to do their initial registration online between November 22 and December 16, 2021 for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration.

Those who will register are then required to bring a duly accomplished Oath Form, notice of admission (for identification only), two pieces passport sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of documentary stamps, and one piece short brown envelope when they personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Passers of the Physicians Licensure Examination were told that their online oath-taking will be on November 18, 2021 (Thursday) at 10 a.m. through Microsoft Teams or Zoom. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
