THE ball is starting to roll as far as the move to have the certificate of candidacy (COC) of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. cancelled is concerned.

This, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) issued late Thursday, November 11, the summon to Marcos. It is expected to be served Friday, November 12.

"Upon receipt of the summons, the respondent will have five days to file an answer," said Comelec spokesman James Jimenez in a statement.

Once the Marcos camp submits its answer, the Comelec is expected to set a date for the pre-conference meeting, where both parties will face each other.

The former senator is facing a petition to cancel or deny due course his COC for allegedly making false material representations.

A petition-in-intervention was subsequently filed at the Comelec in the case against Marcos.

The main petition against the presidential aspirant has since been raffled to the Comelec Second Division, whose members are Commissioners Socorro Inting and Antonio Kho Jr. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
