Viray: Build! Build! Build!

AN ENGINEER is tasked to build. By chance, our incumbent city mayor is an engineer who has a penchant to build the structure for the city.

Please visit the City Civic Center (C-3) located in Barangay Del Rosario. It houses the Command and Control and Communications Tower. This compound best illustrates that San Fernando is a digital and smart city. Not only this, we have a Senior Citizen building, a Disaster’s Office (CDRRMO), Special Drug Education Building, School Divisions Office (DepEd) building and an evacuation center. This also serves as the City Isolation Facility for Covid 19 patients during the height of the pandemic. It has provided ready and free hospitalization spaces for San Fernando residents.

Before his term shall end in 2022, Mayor EdSa would like to build an extension of the Evacuation Complex (already funded), a City Park, TechVoc building for young people, a warehouse and a motorpool building. Edsa wants the General Services Office and the Engineering Office transferred from the flood-prone New Market site to this area.

The Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire and POSCO buildings were completed at Northville in Barangay Malpitic, way back in 2019. Bahay Pagbabago (for former drug dependents) was built in Barangay Lara also in 2019. In 2020, the Construction of the Town Center Esplanade at Barangay Calulut was strengthened.

Barangay Halls in Barangay Pulung Bulu and Barangay San Juan were built during the incumbency of EdSa. The concrete bridges in St. Jude, Magliman, Malpitic and San Isidro were built. Even the legendary Baluyut Bridge was refurbished.

Several school buildings from Panipuan to Pandaras; from Maimpis to Dolores were erected, in almost all the 35 barangays of the City. EdSa obtained the Paskuhan building and lot, free of charge from SM Group of Companies. It is undergoing construction.

The centerpiece of this Build Program is the modernization of the Old Public Market. The Mayor did not shy away from the reconstruction of the City Market despite the objection of some stallholders. Soon the City of San Fernando will see a new, clean and modern public market.

The Engineer in EdSa is evident in the number of structures he has bestowed upon the City. The name, Edwin "EdSa" D. Santiago shall be permanently etched in these buildings.
