494 get Covid-19 jabs in ‘pop-up’ vax site in Buhisan

CLOSE to 500 people were vaccinated during a “pop-up” vaccination activity held in one of the Catholic parishes in Cebu City on Friday, November 12, 2021.
Around 494 individuals availed themselves of the pop-up vaccination activity that was organized by the Cebu City Government at the Mary Help of Christians Church in Barangay Buhisan.
Fr. Mhar Vincent Balili, the parish’s head of the team of pastors, told reporters that days before the event, city officials requested him and parish officials to organize a one-day vaccination activity at the church to attract more people to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.
“The city government requested to have the vaccination in the parish. Since the church and I myself support this program, the parish is kind enough to accommodate such request. Moreover, such venue would be very convenient to parishioners especially coming from the mountain barangay,” Balili added.
On Wednesday, the Cebu City Government opened pop-up Covid-19 vaccination sites in Barangays Ermita and Kamputhaw.
Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the city’s Emergency Operations Center, said pop-up vaccination sites were advantageous as they brought the vaccines closer to more people, especially those living in far-flung areas. / JKV
