THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has increased the reward money for those who could provide information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects behind the killing of former provincial consultant Mariano Antonio "Marton" Cui III.

From half a million pesos, the bounty was increased to P1.5 million as of Thursday, November 11, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

He said those who could shed light on the killing may contact lawyer Renoir Baldovino, district chief of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bacolod City.

Cui, who served as the Capitol's consultant for hospital operations, was assassinated by a sniper as he was leaving his office in Barangay Palampas in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental in April 2021.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered the NBI to investigate Cui's assassination.
