THE Visayas Art Fair 2021 is a historic undertaking to unite Regions 6, 7 and 8 in the Visayas to present to the world the identity of the Visayan arts and culture. This fair, the first of its kind, will take place on Nov. 25 to 28, 2021 at the MontebelloVilla Hotel, Cebu.
Cebu Design Week (CDW) Inc., as the leading organization that supports the creative community in the Visayas, has partnered with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation and the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation to deliver this project.
CDW’s long-term vision is to foster a vibrant and dynamic creative economy that will bring about monetary and non-monetary benefits to the regions and to the country.
It has invited numerous galleries, art collectives and artists from all over the Visayas region and the National Capital region to display their works in the exhibit. Along with the physical art exhibit are curated events and art installations, as well as pop-up stores that will showcase art and design in many forms.
This will be open to special guests and to the general public adhering to strict guidelines for health protocols and social distancing.
There will be diverse live open-air performances in the forms of acting and musical numbers. Art talks, competitions and demonstrations will also be done all over the venue, as well as a special participation from the Jose Joya Arts awardees and professors of the University of the Philippines-Cebu. There will be a number of special settings from small to larger-than-life-sized sculptures, crochet bombing of the beautiful trees in Montebello and many more.
Simultaneous with the physical exhibit will be a digital catalog on the Visayas Art Fair website. People can also read about the Visayas Art Fair and the team behind it, as well as information on and the story behind the participating galleries, groups and artists and their artworks.
CDW believes that the Visayas has great potential in the field and it aims to establish awareness about the Visayas visual arts community not only in the Visayas regions but also to the world. (PR)
